Network
- We at PetaHosting are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest performance web hosting solution that money can buy. In order to help us achieve this goal, we have chosen to locate our servers in several world class data centers, the central one being the ServInt data center located in McLean, Virginia.
- The McLean data center is a tier-1 facility that provides significantly more than OC-48 (2.5Gbit/sec) fiber-optic backbone connectivity to the internet. The data center includes telco-grade racks and wiring, as well as power backup and industrial-grade cooling facilities. It is secured both against unauthorized intrusion and against natural disasters.
- Connectivity to the data center is provided by many different networks. The main backbone connections are provided by GlobalNAPS, Qwest, BTN and Global Crossing.
- Power integrity at the site is maintained using robust UPS systems that are strong enough to protect against electricity surges created by direct lightning strikes. The UPS systems and Diesel power generators can provide continues backup power for an indefinite amount of time.
- Environmental control is maintained using redundant air conditioning systems that employ both gas and liquid cooling methods. In addition, an early-warning smoke detection system with an automated HALCON gas extinguishing system (which does not cause harm to hardware) is installed.
- Security is strictly maintained by restricting access to the data center to card-key carrying system administrators who have been biometrically identified. In addition, all windows, doors and server racks are locked and monitored 24/7 by security cameras.
